New ‘SIP’ valves to save fuel and cut downtime

A new cylinder lubrication system based on patented Swirl Injection Principle (SIP) technology developed by Danish engineering firm HJ Lubricators (HJL) will enable shipowners and operators to save fuel and cut retrofit times, the company claims. The SIP+ valve is designed for two-stroke marine engines and is dual-fuel ‘ready’. It eliminates the need for internal liner machining and top-cover removal, saving up to a third of installation time. This should enable retrofits to be completed within normal port stays, HJL said....
