New wave monitoring system to enhance safety
Norway-based Smart Ocean AS has launched a new buoy-mounted wave-monitoring system that tracks precise wave heights and prevailing sea states in almost real time. The system, which updates every 15 minutes, ensures more accurate tracking of current conditions as compared with forecasts and satellite-based models which rely on calculations and statistics, the company said. The new system will improve safety for a wide range of vessels that operate in coastal waters.
