The sheer scale of the cruise ship orderbook is a clear sign of the sector’s growing popularity. More than 27 million holidaymakers are expected to embark on a cruise this year. For the most part, these ships are built and operated to the very highest safety standards, but a small number of ‘man overboard’ incidents each year still have an adverse impact on cruise safety statistics.
