Upgraded jack-up leaves Dutch yard

Seafox 5 , a 151m-long self-propelled jack-up vessel with DP2 capability, has left Damen Verolme Rotterdam (DVR), bound for the German sector of the North Sea where it will begin a contract to install 66 wind turbines, each of 6 MW, on the Merkur wind farm. The 2012-built jack-up arrived at DVR last September with the principal aim of lengthening its 1,200-tonne Liebherr main crane in preparation for its contract with GeoSea at the Merkur facility. Other works carried out on board Seafox 5 included a special survey, a test of the jacking system to 70m above sea level, renewal of the leg guide plates, and the installation of a secondary Sormec crane....
