AI to support man-overboard detection
Offshore contractors can now use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the probability of detecting ‘man overboard’ incidents. Edinburgh-based Zelim, a developer of search and rescue technology, has launched a new system, Zoe, which has now been installed on a second jack-up rig following successful year-long trials in a pilot project. Zoe uses cameras supported by AI software to detect when a person falls overboard and then tracks their position in real time. The setup has been designed specifically for the marine environment....
