Class requirements on hydrogen-fuelled ships
ABS is first off the mark with its ABS Requirements for Hydrogen Fuelled Vessels, providing owners, operators, and other stakeholders with a risk assessment framework for using hydrogen as a marine fuel. In a statement, the classification society said that the new requirements build on its existing work with zero-carbon fuel, including the Glosten-designed hydrogen-fuelled research vessel for the University of California, San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
