Innovative vessel control system
A new vessel control and dynamic positioning system targeting smaller vessels in the offshore support sector has been launched by GE Marine Solutions. The General Electric subsidiary, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, claims that reduced hardware and complexity have resulted in a cost-effective solution for customers, many of whom are facing increased cost pressure to get through the current market downcycle. The SeaLyte vessel control system (VCS) and the SeaLyte dynamic positioning system can be fully integrated or used independently with third-party technology and both systems complement GE’s existing SeaStream technology range. SeaLyte VCS is designed to support the automation of smaller vessel types but is not restricted in either functionality or class compliance.
