Fincantieri signs contract for four cruise vessels

März 2017 | Redaktion

Italian yard Fincantieri has won an order worth an initial EUR 3.2 billion from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCL) for four new-generation 140,000gt cruise ships. The contract includes options for two further vessels. Deliveries span from 2022 to 2025, stretching to 2027 if the options are confirmed. The ships, which are almost 300m long and have capacity for 3,300 passengers, are said to form the backbone of the future NCL fleet. The order is based on a prototype project developed by Fincantieri to meet specific NCL requirements on shipboard features. In addition, focus was set on energy efficiency, with the dual aim of optimising fuel consumption at sea and reducing environmental impact, and achieving compliance with all the most recent regulations in this sector.
