WinGD lands 50-engine order for LNG carriers
WinGD has won a contract to supply 50 low-pressure, dual-fuel X-DF engines for 25 LNG carriers to be built for QatarEnergy’s North Field East project. The order is a key component in the largest LNG newbuilding project so far. The 25 vessels are due for delivery between 2023 and 2027. The latest generation X72DF-2.1 engines will have on-engine Intelligent Control through Exhaust Recycling (iCER) systems, specified by owners and shipyards involved in the project. The technology improves fuel consumption in both gas and diesel modes, WinGD said, and provides a 50% reduction in methane slip compared with first-generation X-DF engines....
