HyPNoS project to support Canada’s Quite Vessel Initiative
Schottel has been awarded a grant and chosen by the Canadian Government to support the country’s Quiet Vessel Initiative by way of the Hydrodynamic Propeller Noise Monitoring System (HyPNoS) initiative. The project is intended to underpin the development of quiet vessel technology in Canadian waters. Schottel will examine scope for the creation of a prototype for accurate measurement of underwater noise from ships’ propulsion systems. The German company will supply a reformulated propulsion system consisting of an optimised propeller design tailored to suit a vessel’s specific operational profile, generating data that will improve the accuracy of underwater noise prediction techniques....
