Engine range awarded Tier III certification
MTU’s Series 4000 engines equipped with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems are now certified as IMO Tier III compliant following classification society tests carried out on the 20-cylinder version. This was awarded approval and considered to be representative of other engines in the range. Latest developments in the turbocharging, combustion and injection systems, combined with MTU’s new SCR units, have resulted in a 75% reduction in NOx emissions compared with IMO II and a 65% cut in particulate emissions compared with EPA Tier 3....
