Exploration of sensitive environments
The search for raw materials continues to drive the exploration of remote offshore regions. As the extreme conditions are a challenge both for the industry and the scientific community, the Offshore Dialogue, a half-day conference, which will be held on the sidelines of this year’s SMM in Hamburg, will provide a platform for experts to exchange knowledge and discuss current risk and opportunities. The conference will take place on September 6th and is divided into two panels. The first one, titled “The unknown oceans – exploration for the balance between use and conservation”, is organised by the German Association for Marine Technology (GMT) and will focus on the most efficient environmentally friendly and sustainable mining of manganese nodules....
