New cooling technology targets passenger ships

September 2016 | Editor

GADCOOLER™ | Gadlab Engineering has developed an energy-efficient cooler for ships called GadCooler. Based on absorption technology, it uses waste heat to provide air conditioning, cooling and refrigeration for all types of ships and can handle all or part of the cooling needs on board, according to the Helsinki-based company, adding that GadCooler provides major fuel savings for shipowners. The patent-pending system uses non-toxic fluids, is practically maintenance-free and can be installed during a normal service docking.
