Methanol dual-fuel system awarded AiP
A methanol dual-fuel system, developed by Sasaki Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. for a 9,000dwt general cargo ship, has been granted Approval in Principle (AiP) by Bureau Veritas. The classification society assessed the Sasaki system against its Rule Note, NR 670 – Methanol & Ethanol Fuelled Ships. NR 670 sets out requirements for the arrangement, installation, control, and monitoring of machinery, equipment, and systems using methyl/ethyl alcohol as fuel to minimise risks to ship, crew, and the environment....
