Hybrid tank support system approved

Classification society DNV has granted a general approval for ship application (GASA) for a new support system developed by HD Hyundai for liquefied gas carrier cargo tanks. The high-strength composite support system for independent tanks consists of a fusion of carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP) and high tensile steel, forming a hybrid composite that is ten times stronger than steel and significantly improves structural stability.
