Offshore wind business gaining in importance
DAMEN The Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards Group looks back on a successful 2014. Besides the oil and gas as well as security and defence segments, a main market driver was the offshore wind industry. Comprising 32 shipyards worldwide, 15 of them in the Netherlands, the group says it operates in every niche market where it sees an opportunity to improve, innovate or invest. In addition to shipbuilding and ship design, Damen offers a network of repair and conversion yards worldwide, with dry docks up to 420m x 80m. Conversion projects range from adapting vessels to today’s requirements and regulations to complete conversion of large offshore structures.
