New test facility for offshore coatings
CORROSION PROTECTION In the growing market for environmentally friendly energy production, there is a need to develop, modify and improve protective coatings for offshore wind turbines and other offshore installations. Anti-corrosion and antifouling properties are essential for such coatings, which have to meet different demands than those for coatings used on ship hulls, explain Bernd Daehne and Burkard Watermann from Hamburg-based LimnoMar (Laboratory for Aquatic Research).
