April 2013 | Sven Hoog, Johannes Myland, Christian Frohne, Christian Reiter, Jörn Homann, Oliver Herbst, Günther Clauss, Daniel Testa, Matthias Dudek

LOADING SYSTEM When LNG shuttle carriers are loaded at an offshore terminal, their mooring configuration (side-by-side or tandem) as well as the approach and handling system for the flexible transfer pipes are influenced and limited by weather conditions, especially the sea state. The innovative offshore LNG loading system Sideways Offshore Transfer of LNG and LPG (SOTLL) is now coping with these constraints, write Dr Sven Hoog and Johannes Myland of Hamburg-based IMPaC Offshore Engineering; Dr Christian Frohne and Christian Reiter of Hanover-based Nexans Germany; Jörn Homann and Oliver Herbst of Wunstorf-based Brugg Pipesystems; and Prof Dr Günther Clauss, Daniel Testa and Matthias Dudek of the Technical University of Berlin.
