Innovative new cargo ship adds thrust with rotor sails
ENERCON Aiming for both sustainable and efficient transport, the German wind-turbine manufacturer Enercon recently put the E-Ship 1 into service to deliver its products to wind parks around the world. The innovative cargo vessel uses rotor sails to harness wind energy, which supplements the power provided by the diesel-electric propulsion system. This, along with other efficiency-enhancing features, makes operation of the E-Ship 1 especially economical and environmentally friendly.
