Cable layer to have MacGregor cranes
DP3 vessel | Milan-based cable manufacturer, Prysmian Group, has ordered three cranes from Cargotec subsidiary, MacGregor, for installation on a sophisticated cable layer currently being built by Vard. The 191m-long vessel is costing around EUR 230 million and is due for delivery early in 2027. The crane package consists of a 100-tonne active heave-compensated crane, a 20-tonne offshore crane, and a two-tonne deck crane. The DP3 vessel will have a bollard pull of more than 180 tonnes and will be capable of laying and burying up to four cables simultaneously, with a variety of ploughs....
