Japanese partners collaborate on LNG engine upgrades NYK Line, one of the world’s largest owner of LNG carriers, is working with Namura Shipbuilding and Sasebo Heavy Industries to replace main engines on Moss-type ships powered by steam turbines. The partners plan to replace the steam turbine installations with dual-fuel, low-speed X-DF engines from Switzerland-based WinGD. This follows an Approval in Principle from ClassNK last October.
