Mixed signals from Clarksons’ statistics regarding CII

Analysis released by Clarksons Research at the beginning of the year indicates that more than a third of existing ships are likely to fall into categories ‘D’ or ‘E’ of the IMO’s carbon intensity indicator (CII). This indicates that thousands of vessels will have to be modified in a variety of ways to fall into the acceptable CII categories of A, B, or C. Since January 1st, owners and operators must have a ship’s CII calculated on the basis of the last year of trading. The findings must be reported to the Data Collection System verifier by March 31st each year....
