Future fuels analysis identifies e-ammonia and LBG as front-runners

A Lloyd’s Register (LR) report has concluded that hydrogen-based fuels and biofuels are ‘two alternative paths that will steer shipping’s course’ amongst a wide range of marine fuel mix projections. The Future of Maritime Fuels report by the LR Maritime Decarbonisation Hub examines the dynamics of the fuel supply system, addressing not only shipping demand but also competition from other industrial sectors for the likely new fuels. One striking conclusion is that methanol is likely to have a lower market share in the marine fuel market than ammonia or biomethane....
