Smart Marine | A Gulfmark Offshore-owned platform supply vessel equipped with a Wärtsilä Nacos Platinum package of navigation, automation and dynamic positioning (DP) systems has undergone successful remote control tests off the North Sea coast of Scotland. The 80m-long Highland Chieftain was tested through a range of manoeuvres using a combination of DP and joystick control conducted from Wärtsilä’s San Diego office in California, 8,000km away, marking a significant achievement in the technology company’s Smart Marine programme.
