Typhoon-capable floating wind foundation certified
The three-column D-Floater, a floating semi-submersible 17-MW wind foundation developed by Bassoe Technology and capable of withstanding 50-year typhoon conditions in the South China Sea, has been awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) by DNV. The delta-shaped pontoon configuration will enable foundations to be stacked one inside another, generating significant efficiency gains. It will be possible, for example, to store several units efficiently in port and ship them to an offshore wind farm in one heavy-lift consignment, generating savings in heavy-lift ship hire and saving time and cost in offshore facility development....
