Berlin Express receives LNG bunkers in China

Hapag-Lloyd’s new 24,000-TEU dual-fuel container ship, Berlin Express , has taken delivery of 6,000m3 of bonded LNG bunkers in China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. In a fuelling operation that lasted 20 hours, the ultra-large container ship is only the second carrier to be bunkered with bonded LNG in the port. Miami-based World Fuel Services Corporation supplied the LNG bunkers for the vessel. Launched in June, the Berlin Express has been on its maiden voyage. The German container line’s head of Global Fuel Purchasing, Jan Christensen, said: “The refuelling of our new Berlin Express demonstrates great collaboration and innovation to achieve efficient LNG bunkering at a major international port....
