Cook Strait RoPax ships to have advanced safety systems
Two new diesel-electric RoPax ferries being built for New Zealand’s KiwiRail to link the country’s North and South Islands are to have the latest Viking LifeCraftTM system installations. The ships, which will operate across the Cook Strait and carry about 800,000 people each year, are currently under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. They are the first new vessels to have these particular advanced evacuation safety systems from Viking Life-Saving Equipment.
