Wind propulsion as driving force for maritime decarbonisation
Natural resource Wind is free, clean and available worldwide: propulsion systems using this natural force are therefore considered promising candidates to realise the ambitious goals of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions. Wind has the power to lead the maritime industry into a decarbonised future. In this article, classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) assesses the state of current developments.
