Converter stations to be built by German-Spanish consortium
Amprion Offshore GmbH has commissioned Siemens Energy and the Spanish EPC company Dragados Offshore to build the converter stations for the offshore grid connection systems BalWin1 and BalWin3 . These are the new names for the offshore facilities, Lanwin 1 and Lanwin 2 . Amprion had recently renamed them. The partners are to build two converters each at sea and on land in the new power class of 2 GW. The systems are to be commissioned two and three years earlier than originally planned. The fact that it is still not possible to have such systems manufactured in Germany is criticised by the Offshore Wind Energy Foundation, among others....
