Trafikverket orders electric ferries

Remote control | The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has ordered two plus two autonomous electric ferries at Holland Shipyards Group, the Netherlands. The first vessel is due for delivery in the second half of 2024. The 86m-long ferries, with capacity for 60 cars, will operate according to the IMO’s autonomy level 2. They will be managed remotely from a control centre in Stockholm but will have seafarers on board who can take control if necessary. The contract includes four ferries, eight auto-mooring facilities, and four shoreside charging stations enabling the vessels’ systems to recharge in about four minutes....
