AiP for harsh environment floating wind concept
Lloyd’s Register (LR) has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for Maridea’s Moray Base floating wind design which can support wind turbines of up to 15 MW in harsh conditions and water depths of up to 100m. Maridea is a Dutch subsidiary of Netherlands-based Multi Engineering group. The base of the structure is constructed using a monopile fabrication process rather than a conventional process with nodes that increase production time. The absence of nodes reduces fatigue hotspots and could eliminate the need for costly in-service repairs, the classification society said....
