AiPs speed up as new fuel arrangements are developed
Classification societies are handing out Approvals in Principle (AiPs) at a rapid pace as shipbuilders, energy firms and original equipment manufacturers collaborate on initiatives to ensure that new ships are ready for future fuels. In the last few weeks, Bureau Veritas (BV) has awarded two AiPs to separate fuel-related projects, with the most recent applying to a dual-fuelled VLCC designed to use LNG and ammonia at some time in the future.
