Combined wind-solar power systems awarded AiP
ClassNK has awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) to a novel renewable energy system developed by Eco Marine Power (EMP), based in Fukuoka, Japan. The Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy with EnergySail combines renewable energy from wind and sun that is obtained by a rigid sail and a solar panel on deck. “Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy is an advanced integrated system of rigid sails, marine-grade solar panels, energy storage modules, charging system and marine computers that enables ships to tap into renewable energy by harnessing the power provided by the wind and sun,” the company said....
