Publicly funded ventures dealing with autonomous shipping are underway in the US and China, while the private sector is leading similar initiatives in Europe; globally, asset owners, researchers, regulators, equipment and software suppliers, energy specialists, engine makers, designers, shipyards and classification societies are joining forces to advance the arrival of the autonomous ship.
