DNV GL gains MRV accreditation

CO2 emissions | Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH, Germany’s accreditation body, has certified that classification society DNV GL complies with requirements set out in EU monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) regulations and can now operate as an independent verifier. The EU regulations on CO2 emissions, which entered force in July 2015 and differ from those of the IMO, will require more than 16,000 commercial ships of 5,000gt and above to demonstrate compliance, according to some estimates.
