Electric propelled inland vessels

The ports of Antwerp, Amsterdam and Rotterdam will be deploying fully electric propelled barges from late summer. They will be powered by container batteries, the “e-Powerbox”, which have been developed by the Dutch company Port-Liner and are equivalent in size to one twenty-foot container. There will be two versions of the barge – a larger one measuring 110m in length with a variable width between 11.45m and 14.2m, and a smaller one which is 52m long and 6.7m wide. The smaller barges will be able to carry 24 20ft containers and will be fitted with one power box for 15 hours of power supply....
