Major container vessel order
MSC | MAN Diesel & Turbo (MDT) has won an order from MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to equip eleven 23,000 TEU container vessels with MAN B&W 11G95ME-C9.5 main engines. Six of the vessels will be built by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI); the other five will be constructed by Daewoo Shipping Marine Engineering (DSME). G-type engines’ longer stroke results in a lower rpm for the engine driving the propeller, MAN said.
