Wash-water EGCS monitor launched

A wash-water monitor, the Smart ESM, has been unveiled by Rivertrace to ensure that wash-water from exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) known as scrubbers, complies with worldwide SOx limits. Scrubbers are becoming popular amongst ship operators as they prepare for the IMO’s 2020 sulphur cap, the company notes, but wet scrubbers use wash-water to remove pollutants from exhaust gas, and this wash-water must be within certain limits before it is discharged. The Smart ESM meets the MEPC 259(68) standard and ensures that wash-water is fully compliant....
