LPG dual-fuel engine development

MoU | MAN Diesel & Turbo and licensee Hyundai have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on the development and production of dual-fuel LPG engines, MAN B&W ME-LGIP units, initially for LPG carriers but potentially for other ship types too. The Danish engine company will cooperate with Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Engine & Machinery Division which will build the two-stroke LPG engines when development work is completed. Unlike LNG, LPG will not require a large investment in bunkering infrastructure and yet the fuel offers similar emissions benefits and will enable ships to meet new IMO sulphur limits due to enter force in 2020....
