Remotely operated fireboats
Vancouver-based Robert Allan Ltd, naval architecture specialists, and marine technology company Kongsberg Maritime, are to cooperate on the development of remotely operated fireboats for deployment in ports. The RALamander fireboat will be capable of up-close fire-fighting in circumstances where personnel could be put at risk. Fires involving containers, petrochemicals, shoreside structures or vessels with the potential to emit toxic smoke or risk explosion, hampering human intervention, could be tackled more quickly, more aggressively and more effectively, the companies say....
