First-time offshore deployment

Munich-based Siemens AG is to supply a gas turbine-driven compression chain for Statoil’s FPSO which will be located on the Johan Castberg oil field in the Barents Sea. Norway’s state oil company, which has a frame agreement with Siemens, has chosen a SGT-750 gas turbine, the first time such a unit has been deployed offshore. The 41-MW turbine will drive two Datum compressors, operating in tandem, to reinject gas and pressurise the reservoir. They are supplied by Dresser-Rand, a Siemens business....
