Dutch organisations collaborate on world’s first floating solar energy plant

Five institutions and a university in the Netherlands are pooling their expertise to design, build and operate the world’s first offshore floating solar farm. The project ‘Solar-at-Sea’ has potentially far-reaching implications for the supply of power to populous coastal regions and island nations around the world where land space is at a premium. Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), Marin – the Maritime Research Institute, energy infrastructure company TAQA, Oceans of Energy and Utrecht University will work together for three years on the Solar-at-Sea project....
