Supporting shipping’s supply chain

March 2017 | Editor

The supply chain in shipping relies heavily on the performance of a ship or port agent, whose job it is to make sure that proper berthing areas are allotted to the ship and all the pertaining documents are ready and adequately taken care of, among other things. A software solution that supports a safe integration of all operations across the supply chain could prove to be indispensable, writes Lars Fischer, managing director of Softship Data Processing Ltd Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Softship AG, a software systems provider in the international liner shipping and port agency sectors.
