Rhenus Group continues UK expansion

March 2017 | Editor

Rhenus Offshore Logistics (ROL), a subsidiary of Germany‘s Rhenus Group, a global logistics specialist, has established two new offshore supply bases in the UK ports of Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth. Opening of the new facilities follows closely the setting-up last year of a ROL office in Lowestoft on the UK’s east coast. The company has built a strong track record in wind farm support – since 2014, it has serviced about 90% of German offshore wind facilities. ROL offers a complete logistics package to offshore energy companies in Europe. The core concept is cargo runs in which every aspect of supplying offshore facilities is coordinated and managed, with a single point of contact controlling all interfaces. Dedicated project teams handle all operations including vessel charter, cargo handling, marine coordination, the provision of offshore containers, warehousing, goods receipt, port handling, agency, crew transfer, buoy deployment and maintenance, and all other functions necessary for a turnkey logistics package. Commenting on the expansion, ROL’s UK business development manager Greg Howlett said: “For Rhenus Offshore Logistics, this is an important step in our UK growth and provides us with the scope and facilities required to supplement our service package. Supply runs and offshore logistics are our core business. However, this new venture supports our scope and enables us to offer the full logistical solution as well as coordinate all activities in-house, which is important to us.”
