»Concrete opportunities for cooperation«

March 2017 | Editor

The maritime industry in Singapore traditionally depends on the global offshore oil and gas markets. Since investments are currently down due to the low oil price, enterprises in the Southeast-Asian city-state are forced to diversify into different markets and cooperate with foreign companies. Last October, a delegation from the German VDMA – Marine Equipment and Systems visited Singapore and explored opportunities both for the German suppliers’ industry and the Singaporean maritime landscape. After the trip, Ship&Offshore spoke with Hauke Schlegel, managing director of the VDMA, about the current situation and prospects for the maritime industries, both in Europe and in Singapore.
