The Finnish azimuth propulsion specialist Steerprop Ltd reports that it has expanded its eco-efficient Steerprop CRP ECO product line with a new, compact and cost-effective Steerprop CRP ECO LM propulsor with integrated vertical permanent magnet (PM) motor. The environmentally friendly Steerprop CRP ECO LM with reduced lifetime costs, improved fuel-efficiency and low vibration and underwater noise levels is said to offer benefits to shipowners, builders and designers. The compact construction eases installation and maintenance and maximises onboard comfort, according to the company. Development of the product began in 2015 with the aim of combining the hydrodynamic features of Steerprop CRP ECO propulsors with an efficient and compact electric motor to create a highly efficient, extremely compact propulsive unit, Steerprop noted. The Steerprop CRP ECO LM consists of a mechanical azimuth propulsor, an electric motor and a shaft line with flexible coupling.
