Contract for special-purpose tugs

March 2017 | Editor

Two customised tugs have been ordered by Dutch Dredging BV (Baggerbedrijf De Boer BV) at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands to perform escort, emergency and dredging duties at the two ports of Cayenne and Kourou on the Atlantic coast of South America. The special-purpose vessels will be deployed on ten-year contracts with the Grand Port Maritime de Guyane port authority and will be operated by Dutch Dredging which will work jointly on the project with Ijmuiden-based Iskes Towage & Salvage. Together, the two companies have ordered the vessels through a French subsidiary company, De Boer Remorquage SARL.
