Innovative LNG carrier design approved, new notations
A new LNG carrier design featuring forward accommodation and a wind-assisted propulsion system (WAPS) developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries was awarded Approval in Principle (AiP) by Lloyd’s Register (LR) at Gastech in Milan. The radical design, developed in collaboration with Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administrator, incorporates Wind Challenger, a WAPS designed by MOL.
