Dry bulk decarbonisation drive initiated
The Singapore-based Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) and the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners (Intercargo) have signed a two-year partnership to speed up decarbonisation initiatives in the dry bulk sector. Bulk carriers make up the world’s largest shipping segment in deadweight terms, accounting for almost 43% of the world fleet. However, because they are often deployed in tramp trades and can be fixed on any number of voyages not known in advance, their owners cannot pursue strategies to implement the take-up of new lower carbon fuels which are only available in a limited number of ports....
