Ferries lead the way in digitalisation and decarbonisation drive
Scandinavian ferry operators Stena and Bastø Fosen are both continuously taking steps to digitise and thus making their services more efficient and sustainable. However, the later is perhaps one of only a few lines that have made progress on both sides of the developmental equation. The Norwegian company’s two all-electric ferries operate across the Oslo Fjord between Horten and Moss. Both vessels have been fitted with Autocrossing and Autodocking technologies. Torbjørn Hals, technical product manager, Positioning Manoeuvring & Navigation, at Kongsberg Maritime, said: “Our Autodocking technology was originally developed for ferries, allowing ferry operators to increase efficient operation during repetitive docking procedures.”...
